The Lowdown.

From the system to the roaster - a family's fight for change through coffee.

Convict Coffee wasn’t built in a boardroom.

It was born in a cell, raised in a kitchen, and launched with a middle finger to the status quo.

From Chains to Change.

Raised in a chaotic home, I turned to crime at the age of 13 when I left home. For the next ten years, I was incarcerated as often as I was free. Finally, while locked up in Vacaville State Penitentiary, my first son Damien was born. With a new purpose upon my release, I found a home in the restaurant industry, moving up the chain to management and eventually being Vice President and COO for several national and regional brands.

Although I was making a good living, I was disappointed in what I saw. Underpaid employees, greedy investors, and a lack of commitment to improving the community were what I observed. Finally, with forty years of experience, I said 'fuck it' and decided to quit complaining and do something about it. In 2024, Convict Coffee Company was born in Parker, Colorado.

My family and I decided that we wanted to create a new kind of restaurant. Coffee for the rest of us: A place with a vibe that serves coffee with conviction. Kick-ass music, things happening, and real people not reading a script.

Our Mission is simple.

  • Share the wealth by providing industry-best quality of life and compensation packages to all employees at every level.
  • Impact the community by supporting programs that keep kids out of trouble and rehabilitate non-violent felons - so they do not reoffend.
  • Provide franchise opportunities for offenders who have rehabilitated and want to change their life like I did.
  • Create a place where respect is shown to everyone, employees and guests alike.

I have been fortunate to have a second chance, and I want to do something impactful with it. If you want to support a company that makes a difference, come have a cup.

Wage ratio is the maximum allowed in our company bylaws. Guaranteeing no one in our company will ever make 10x our entry level employee.

Compare this to the 10,000x wage gap that the Starbucks CEO, Brian Niccol, made in his first 90 days vs. his baseline employee
